Airports Council International (ACI) is the only global trade representative of the world’s airport authorities. Established in 1991, ACI represents airports’ interests with governments and international organizations, develops standards, policies and recommended practices for airports, and it provides information and training opportunities to raise the standards around the world. It aims to provide the public a safe, secure, efficient and an environmentally responsible air transport system.
It is governed by the ACI Governing Board. ACI World is located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. ACI works on a daily basis with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is a member of the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG).
In 2012, ACI member airports worldwide handled 5.7 billion arriving and departing passengers, 92.5 million metric tonnes of cargo and 79 million movements. ACI reported 573 members operating 1751 airports in 174 countries and territories, representing over 95 percent of global airport traffic. ACI regular members are owners or operators, other than airlines, of one or more civil airports with commercial air services.
ACI has steadily increased its contact with ICAO over the years, culminating in the move from Geneva to Montreal in 2011 which has allowed for much broader and deeper engagement between ACI staff, State Representatives and the ICAO Secretariat. For example, ACI have been able to place their subject matter expert on the Air Navigation Commission as an observer which allows the airport sector early input into proposed technical recommendations that have direct consequences for airport design and operation.
Airports Council International (ACI) est le seul représentant commercial mondial des autorités aéroportuaires du monde. Créée en 1991, ACI représente les intérêts des aéroports avec les gouvernements et les organisations internationales, élabore des normes, des politiques et des pratiques recommandées pour les aéroports, et fournit des possibilités d'information et de formation pour relever les normes à travers le monde. Il vise à fournir au public un système de transport aérien sûr, sécurisé, efficace et respectueux de l'environnement.
Il est régi par le conseil d'administration d'ACI. ACI World est situé à Montréal, au Québec, au Canada. ACI travaille quotidiennement avec l'Organisation de l'Aviation Civile Internationale (OACI) et est membre du Groupe d'Action du Transport Aérien (ATAG).
En 2012, les aéroports membres de l'ACI dans le monde ont traité 5,7 milliards de passagers arrivant et sortants, 92,5 millions de tonnes métriques de marchandises et 79 millions de mouvements. ACI a signalé 573 membres exploitant 1751 aéroports dans 174 pays et territoires, représentant plus de 95 pour cent du trafic mondial de l'aéroport. Les membres réguliers d'ACI sont des propriétaires ou des opérateurs, autres que des compagnies aériennes, d'un ou de plusieurs aéroports civils possédant des services aériens commerciaux.
ACI a constamment augmenté ses contacts avec l'OACI au cours des années, ce qui a permis de passer de Genève à Montréal en 2011, ce qui a permis un engagement beaucoup plus large et plus profond entre le personnel d'ACI, les représentants de l'État et le Secrétariat de l'OACI. Par exemple, ACI a été en mesure de placer son expert en matière de matière à la Commission de navigation aérienne en tant qu'observateur, ce qui permet au secteur aéroportuaire de participer tôt aux recommandations techniques proposées qui ont des conséquences directes pour la conception et l'exploitation des aéroports.
